"A POPULAR DESTINATION"

Budapest (BUD)
Bye-Bye to the Communist storehouse

Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. There is a magnetic quality that revolves around Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. Peaceful and bustling, a big metropolis and yet friendly, it treasures the old and embraces the new. Here the historic blends with the modern; the hills harmonize with the river, that is, the Danube, which flows through the city along a stretch of 28 kilometers.

Budapest is connected by air, rail, coach and car. Budapest's network of public transport services includes buses, trolleybuses, trams, underground trains and over ground suburban trains.

Budapest International Airport is ten miles south-east of the city centre. It has two terminals: Terminal One is reopened for low-cost airlines in September 2005; Terminal Two is divided into two, with Terminal 2A the departure and arrival point for flights of Malév Hungarian Airlines and Terminal 2B hosting all international carriers' flights, including some of the budget airlines.

More than fifty trains a day provide direct links between Budapest and no fewer than 25 other capital cities. Trains to Vienna run every three hours. There is also a popular network of Inter City trains linking Budapest with the main Hungarian centres.

A hydrofoil services operates during the summer months (from April to October) linking the heart of Budapest with Vienna and Bratislava. International boat landings are situated on the Danube between the Chain Bridge and the Freedom Bridge.
